Hudson Foundation: Building on years of community support

13th December 2024 | Hudson Contract

Launched in 2024, our Hudson Foundation brings together our efforts to create opportunities for young people to learn trade skills, develop self-confidence and get a good start in life – including 24 trade apprentices we sponsored this year.

We pay £50 per week towards the wages of an apprentice during their first 12 months in our flagship sponsorship scheme. To date, we have supported 276 young people, such as Tom Benninger, an electrician from Bridlington, who told us this year: "As soon as I qualified, my phone hasn't stopped ringing with people offering me work."

Meanwhile, staff at an East Yorkshire primary school were bowled over by our donation of learning equipment. We gifted 30 iPads to the Burton Agnes Church of England Primary School, replacing a stock of depleted and damaged devices.

We also helped an inner city primary school in Hull visit the animal park and beach in Bridlington. For many of the pupils, it was the first time they had visited the seaside.

As well as batting for young people's education, we have supported local music group Remarkable Arts and its inspiring British Sign Language ‘Schools Rock’ programme, which has been enjoyed by more than 1,000 pupils in Bridlington.

We have continued to support the role of youth development officer at Bridlington Rugby Club, boosting youth player numbers and promoting the values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship.

We have supported our employees and customers who took part in fundraising activities for good causes. In recognition of their efforts, we made donations to charities including Cardiac Risk in the Young, Cats Protection, the open-door Hinge Centre, Macmillan Cancer Support and men's health initiative Movember.

In special circumstances, we provided financial support to the bereaved families of two operatives who passed away this year.

David Jackson, Founder & Chairman of Hudson said: “This year we launched the Hudson Foundation and as well as building on our longstanding community work, we have also taken on new opportunities to make a difference. We want our clients to continue to bring good causes to our attention so we can support them wherever possible.”
