13th December 2022 | Hudson Contract
For Hudson Contract, being in business isn’t just about helping clients to stay compliant with tricky tax and employment law. It’s also about supporting the local community wherever possible.
Founder and chairman David Jackson said: “I feel a deep sense of responsibility to Bridlington, our seaside hometown in East Yorkshire, and its surrounding areas. As a family-owned company, we chose to demonstrate this commitment in a number of different ways during 2022.”
Training and Skills
Hudson continued to operate and promote its award-winning sponsorship scheme for apprentices, creating meaningful training opportunities for young people so they can develop valuable skills and enjoyed rewarding careers.
Readers can see some of the 225 young people who have benefited from the scheme in this new video from our celebration event in October.
Hudson supported a youth development officer and vehicle at Bridlington Rugby Union Football Club to visit local schools and promote rugby as a sport for all, helping to grow the number of junior players in the local area.
Hudson also supported the Remarkable Arts education charity, giving young people the opportunity to enjoy free music workshops and learn social skills, experience team work and develop self-confidence, self-esteem and self-belief. It entirely funded a project to help children with profound and multiple learning disabilities to experience the joy of making music.
Charities
The company backed numerous other good causes during the year, including homeless charities, food banks and training schemes to help marginalised people back into education and employment. It also encourages its employees to support local charities.
At a national level, Hudson is a longstanding supporter of the Lighthouse Club and regularly helps to promote the construction charity’s helpline and mental health app throughout its extensive networks.
Separately, David sent a substantial donation to Kevin Sinfield after the rugby star completed seven ultra marathons in seven days to raise money in honour of former teammate Rob Burrow who has been struck down by motor neurone disease.
David said: “I started out as an apprentice and I want to make it easier for the young people of today to get a good start in life, whether through construction, sport or the arts. Putting something back into the community like we are able to do keeps your feet on the ground.”
