Creating opportunity for young people
The Hudson Foundation brings together our efforts to create opportunities for young people to learn trade skills, develop self-confidence and get a good start in life. Additionally, we support families in need and provide a voice for self-employment in construction.
Watch our founder and chairman David Jackson explain our work and why it matters to us in an interview with Justine Greening, the former education secretary and social mobility campaigner.
Hudson Foundation initiatives
Skills: We pay £50 per week towards the wages of an apprentice during their first year in our flagship sponsorship scheme. To date, we have sponsored more than 260 young people to learn valuable trade skills and get a good start in life. |
Sports: We sponsor youth development officers at Bridlington Rugby Union FC. Youth membership has grown from 10 to more than 200 under the scheme, which encourages teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship. |
Charities: We support our employees and customers when they take part in fundraising activities for good causes. In recognition of their inspiring efforts, we make donations to their chosen charities. |
Advocacy: We work with leading academics to highlight self-employed tradespeople’s essential role in construction and advocate for their recognition by government and industry leaders. |
Arts: We sponsor Remarkable Arts, a group set up to ensure that young people, especially those with special educational needs, can experience the joy of making music with live events, sign language lessons and music-making resources. |
Special circumstances: We provide financial support to families in times of need such as when an operative engaged by Hudson is seriously injured or loses their life at work. We make donations to their loved ones. |
